Tourist routes
Tourists, traveling to these places, should remember that the left bank of Maliy Agul from the Orgazay river mouth and the left bank of Agul to the Gorelaya river mouth are the boundaries of Taybinsky reserve that covers an area of 60,000 hectares. You cannot be on the reserve’s territory without a special permit. This reserve protects musk-deer, Siberian stag, elk, sable, mink, gray heron, black stork, osprey, wood grouse, trout, grayling, and unique landscapes of mountain taiga. If you want to go mountain hiking, it is better to do it in August when bears are fed and not so many mosquitoes.
As for the sights during rafting, in addition to beautiful deserted views, abundance of berries, golden root and Adams’ rhododendron, you can also find the ruins of the «gold fever» mines.

History and culture
This territory became part of Russia in 1727 after the Treaty of Kyakhta and was immediately populated by ploughmen, exiles and field men. Administrative center, Irbeyskoye village was founded in the 18th century to protect the borders of Russia. At the end of the 19th century, there happened the gold fever in Kan basin. Therefore, there was built Biryusinsky tract. But shortly after, there was no gold left, so the peasants of central Russia started moving to the district as well as those, who wanted to get rich on the extraction of other minerals.
